Greg was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, MI. His parents assigned the nickname GT as a child similarly to his grandfather who was known as ZT and the name has stuck with him since. He grew up  in a somewhat rural and wooded environment providing endless outdoor activities. The youngest of three with two older sisters he favored spending the majority of his childhood with friends outdoors.

GT showed a strong interest in drawing and art as a child, however never truly harnessed his creativity with consistent dedication or art classes throughout his schooling. As he grew older, GT would satisfy his creative palate through a number of random and unfocused creative projects ranging from building a surfboard from scratch to restoring old VW’s.

He credits his introduction to the east coast to his sisters who summered on Martha’s Vineyard and during college he was fortunate enough to establish roots to the island while working summers to fund his education. To this day he and his wife spend a fair amount of time on the island every year providing endless inspiration which fuels his creative drive.

Graduating with a business degree in marketing he has been working in the Advertising/Marketing industry for the last 12 plus years with various agencies serving as his primary creative outlet. Picking up a brush with serious intent for the first time in 2004 he has dedicated himself to the never ending task of observation.

He is a self taught artist with no formal training however he has been privileged to study with various master artists through workshops sponsored by The Guild of Boston Artists and The Copley Society of Boston. He is constantly studying, observing and consuming his environment in his quest to learn and grow as an artist.

GT paints both plein air and in his studio where he will typically refine and enlarge his field studies. He currently resides in Boston with his wife who is also a fellow Michigander and among many things a talented potter.
